Montague on June 29, 2012

Decided to pack up and head home on Friday morning, but it took me all day – I just hated to leave Montague.

I got my glider into the box, but you can see in this photo with Craggy in the background, the lift was nothing to write home about… poor at best.  They scrubbed the National Contests for day over at Siskiyou, but Matt E still went flying in JH.

Glider PK ready for derig under a cloudy sky – Craggy in the background – the location of the house thermal for Siskiyou – but not much there today!

Matt and his family waiting for the tow plane..

Matt Epperson and Family at Montague – and Bob too.

The glider fleet at Montague…

2-33 in back, K-21 in middle- JH -the 27, in front.

Rex is first back to refuel …

Bob takes the Pawnee to the hangar, and Rex drags over the 180 for refueling,

Pete King waits his turn at the Chevron Station there at Montague, and Rich Beardsley pull up with the third tow plane.

Pete is done and gets ready to return to Siskiyou

Rich finishes up his refueling..

I head out at 4 PM and catch a photo of Shasta from I-5

and one of the little hill in weed – what’s it called???

cinder cone?

It a drive of about 3.3 hours from Montague to Williams.

Not much different than a drive from the Bay area to Tahoe.

Looks like Matt had an OK flight in JH

Here is the link to his SPOT…

here’s the image in case you don’t see it on the link above…
