Intro, by Peter Kelly
The following email was sent out to all viewers and readers from Lee Edling (aka Blackhawk) – one of those bird people from Air Sailing.
Yes, Air Sailing has obtained a cheap version of the S-125 (SA-3). Those Russians will sell anything! We have replaced the 60 kg warhead with a giant paint ball which will explode about 200 meters from the target. Enemy gliders inbound to steal the PASCO Egg should consider installing a windshield wiper! We have the control panel and P-18 installed in an enclosed room. Wing runners and tow pilots will man the missile between tows after training on the SAMSIM listed below!I hope this missile has better results than the last one used by Cecil B. DeCoot! Here is the video if you haven’t seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjDNLV_6M2c Just in case, maybe Skimmer and Goose should practice running!Acknowledgments:Thanks to www.simhq.com and Cat for the article and panel pictures: http://www.simhq.com/_air14/air_512a.html This is a SAM simulator and it is free. If any of you want to know more about things that were fired at you, this could be interesting. The SA-3 was not used against US forces in Vietnam because the Soviets didn’t want the Chinese to gain access to the missile but the sim does cover older missiles used there. Cat was the natural choice as the reviewer on the missile sim because she is the author of the “Sacha Chronicles,” and is used to researching Soviet/Russian equipment. Go about half way down this page to find the Sacha Chronicles then start at the bottom for the earliest date! http://www.simhq.com/_air/air.html#sachaBlackhawk
