The turnpoints for Williams Soaring Center, California
may be downloaded in various formats at The WWSTE.
Montague
Montague ( Siskiyou County Airport, near
the town of Yreka, Ca) was the destination of the "Expeditions"
from Williams in both 2003 and 2004, and with great success.
You may see the
photo report of the '04 expedition here.
In August 2007, we are once again participating
in a "Montague Expedition". All soaring pilots
are invited to join in on the fun. We plan to primarily
use the tow plane based at Siskiyou, but some resources
from Williams may be deployed for our three day stay. For
more details browse through various entries on the pages
of Williams Today beginning with the article about Lovelock-Montague.
The web page from 2004 has been updated somewhat, you might
look at it to see if any of the links are useful to you.
See the Montague Expeditions page.

Turnpoints for Montague
I made up maps last year for the Nationals at Montague-Siskiyou
and would be pleased to share them with all of the VSA pilots
from Willaims Soaring Center (WSC) who are going to visit
Montague and Siskiyou in the summer of 2007.
The data are a year old, but I don't think anyone has changed
the turnpoint files I sent to Liebacher's web sight for the
contest. Peter Kelly has volunteered to post these maps on
the VSA web page for download.
Thanks to Ginny Farnsworth for pointing out that this would
be a handy thing to have up there. We all appreciate the
enthusiasm and energy that Ginny brings to supporting the
VSA and soaring in general.
The PDFs are fairly large (~1.5MB each). Here is the geek
speak that goes with electronic files: They are 'Montague-East'
and 'Montague-West'. They were originally printed on a high
speed color laser at a resolution of 300DPI. These files
are 150DPI. They will print OK on just about any 11x17"
color printer (try Kinkos) but don't try to mess around
with shrinking or enlarging them. The geographic extent
of the East and West sections overlap by about 20 miles
because I am very afraid of flying off the edge of a chart.
The originals were printed back to back so there was only
one piece of paper to carry in the cockpit. Read the legend
carefully and remember they were prepared for a contest,
so some of the information is probably not needed for recreational
flying. However, all of the locations that I have depicted
on the map are in the turnpoint files on Liebacher's web
site.
